Saint Mary's Cathedral Basilica

Date.

April 2025

City.

Halifax

Size.

8in x 10.5in

A stunning Figma Micron drawing of Saint Mary's Cathedral Basilica located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This intricate piece captures the essence and grandeur of the cathedral, reflecting the commitment to artistry and attention to detail.

The façade and spire are notable for being built entirely of granite, with each brick being shown within the piece. All of the stone was locally obtained, except for the three portals which have a jamb shaft of pink Aberdeen granite. The church was heavily damaged in the Halifax Explosion in 1917. All of the stained glass windows were shattered by the force of the blast, and tiny pieces of glass were embedded in the walls.

This piece displays both visually and historically how the cathedral has passed the tests of time and remains as a vocal point within Halifax. Both seen with our eyes and our hearts.
